Understanding results
How to read your results
Results pages use a few terms worth knowing. Your race decides whether awards are based on gun time or chip time, so check the event’s website or race information.
- Chip time
- Also called net time. Measured from the moment you cross the start line to the moment you cross the finish line.
- Gun time
- Measured from the start signal to your finish. In a crowded start it can be seconds or minutes longer than your chip time.
- Splits
- Times recorded at timing points along the course, such as a mile marker or a turnaround.
- Divisions & age groups
- Your place within your gender, division, or age bracket. Each race sets its own age groups, usually by your age on race day.
- DNF · DNS · DQ
- Did not finish, did not start, or disqualified.
