How we collect, use, and protect the information you share on this website and the race results we publish.

Who we are

Precision Race Timing Services, LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is a Maryland limited liability company that provides race timing services. This policy explains how we handle personal information collected through this website and the race results we publish for race organizers.

If you register for a race, the race’s registration platform collects your registration details under its own privacy policy. This policy doesn’t cover those platforms.

Information we collect

Information you give us

When you use a form on this website, we collect what you enter:

  • Quote requests: your name, email address, phone number, organization, and details about your event, such as its date, location, distances, and expected number of participants, plus any notes you choose to add.
  • Contact messages: your name, email address, phone number (if you give one), the topic, and your message.
  • Results correction requests: your name, email address, the race, your bib number, and details about the result you’re asking about.
  • Race director feedback: your name, email address, the event, your ratings and comments, and, if you choose to share one, a testimonial and the name, role, and organization to show with it.

Information from race organizers

To time an event, we receive participant information from the race organizer or its registration platform. This usually includes name, bib number, age or age group, gender or division, city and state, and team. On race day we add timing data, such as start, split, and finish times.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our web server keeps standard logs, such as IP address, browser type, and the pages requested, to keep the site secure and working. Our form software may also record the pages you viewed on this site before sending a form.

We don’t use analytics or advertising services on this website.

Cookies

We keep cookies to a minimum. WordPress, the software that runs this site, sets cookies for logged-in site administrators. Our forms may use a cookie or similar browser storage to connect the pages you visit with the form you send and to help block spam.

We don’t use cookies for advertising or to track you across other websites.

How we use information

We use the information described above to:

  • reply to your questions and prepare timing proposals;
  • plan, time, and score events, and publish results;
  • review and fix results when someone asks for a correction;
  • keep this website secure and working, including filtering spam; and
  • meet our legal obligations.

We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t use it for advertising.

Published race results

Race results are part of the official record of each event. Published results usually show a participant’s name, bib number, age or age group, gender or division, city and state, and times, including split times where they’re recorded. Results may appear on this website and on the results or registration sites a race uses. Results for youth events come from the race organizer’s registration data.

If your result is wrong, send us a results correction request. If you have a concern about how your information appears in results, contact us and we’ll review it with the race organizer.

How we share information

We share personal information only as needed to provide our services:

  • with the organizer of the event you registered for or asked us about;
  • with service providers that help us run our business, such as website hosting, email, and spam filtering;
  • when required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of participants, our clients, or us; and
  • as part of a sale or transfer of our business, if that ever happens.

How long we keep information

Form submissions are stored in this website’s database and sent to our business email. We keep them only as long as we need them for the purposes described above, such as planning an event or answering a question, and for our business records.

Race results are kept as the lasting record of each event, unless we remove or change them after a request.

How we protect information

We use reasonable safeguards to protect the information we hold. No website, email system, or storage method is perfectly secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security.

Children’s privacy

This website isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through this site, contact us and we’ll delete it.

Your choices

You can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal information we hold about you;
  • correct information that’s wrong;
  • delete information you’ve sent us through this website; or
  • stop emailing you.

Email us at drew@precisionracetiming.services with your request. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we may need to keep some information to meet legal or record-keeping obligations. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state privacy laws.
