Why add split points
A split is a timing line partway through your course, such as a mile marker or a turnaround. Each one adds a split time and pace to every participant’s result. When you also book live results, splits post as participants pass, so spectators can follow their runner’s progress.
A trail at every timing point
Splits also protect the integrity of your results. A participant with a start read and every split read covered the course; one with gaps in the record is worth a closer look before awards.
On looped and multi-lap courses, timing points count laps, so everyone is scored for the full distance.
Good to know
Timing and course certification are separate. A certified course is measured along the shortest possible route, which is one reason GPS watches often read a little long. We time the course you’ve set.
